Trained in traditional copywriting at advertising agencies around the country (both on a freelance and staff basis), Joel's uniquely humorous writing has given consumers, clients and award show judges reason to smile.
After growing up in a one-stoplight Colorado town, Joel earned a degree in communications at Colorado University in the relatively booming metropolis of Boulder before landing his first advertising job in Denver. Several years later he made his way west to San Francisco, working first at Citron, Haligman, Bedecarre, then at the much-easier-to-pronounce, Lowe and Partners. In 2001 he traded
in fog for the smog of New York City, where he currently resides.
Other than a year-long stint at Dimassimo Brand Advertising, Joel has balanced his time in NYC between freelance and working on personal projects. He has written a screenplay, magazine articles and most notably, a book about birds.
